Name: Tsukasa Arikura
Age: 27
Background: Tsukasa grew up the daughter of a scientist who always locked himself away in his laboratory. Because of this, she had to figure out how to take care of herself at a very young age. A small three year old digging through the cupboards for food. Her father was on the edge of a breakthrough, he'd always say, and she loved him so much that she shared in his excitement even though she didn't understand what a breakthrough was. He seemed happy about it, so she was too.

That's when he started to take her blood. She didn't like it, but he said it was for science. Her dad loved science, so she did too. One day she came face to face with a small girl who looked just like her. She was surprised, but excited to have a new friend. She taught her to play with dolls, how to dig in the cupboards for food, and when to stay out of their father's way. More girls, just like her, started to show up and soon she had six sisters. Her father bought more food, which she was thankful for, but still didn't pay very much attention to them.

One day, when she was five, a bunch of strange men broke through their front door. The girls could hear it from the bedroom where they were playing. Their father rushed in, opened the window, and told them all to run. That they had to go take care of themselves now. She climbed out and ran into the forest. That was the last time she saw any of her sisters or her father.

She ended up an urchin on the street, taking care of herself and growing up to be strong, and promising herself that she'd find her sisters and make a good life for herself. She took in other urchins, like Kasumi, and taught them all to take care of themselves as well. She's a natural nurturer, but with a mean streak when she gets riled up. She's decided to become a hunter, because she feels that's the best way to reach all of her goals in life.

Age: 24
Background: Makoto grew up living in the middle of a dark forest with plenty of rumors about monsters and ghosts. That kept people away, which meant she didn't meet too many people. Therefore, she's extremely different and most people avoid her.

One day a hunter came near their small village, looking for a monster rumored to be nearby, and told her all about hunting and what it meant to be a real licensed hunter. They could save entire villages from monsters, make enough money to feed people for years, and she found herself lured into the idea of becoming one when she grew up.

Now, it's been 12 years since that hunter came into her village and for the first time she has left her forest and gone out into the world. She's used to having to survive, and used to things that are dark and creepy, so she believes she's ready to take on the hunter exam and set out into the world she's never known.
